NaNoWriMo Eve 2011
I'm totally freaking out! Tomorrow I'm supposed to start my novel, but I don't feel ready. I've made some notes, come up with character names, done some character sketches, and attempted an outline. I just don't feel like it's enough. I don't have a starting point. Well, i kinda do. I made an outline after all. I'm going to start with the engagement. Seems like a logical place to start when writing about planning a wedding. I'm going to introduce my main character, Leah, and hopefully be able to form a story around her. I'm really nervous--keep your fingers crossed for me!

NaNoWriMo attempt #2
I decided on a whim yesterday to attempt NaNoWriMo again. I want to challenge myself to write a novel (50,000 words) in 30 days. I hope I can do this.
When I made this decision I didn't have a clue what i was going to write about. I started reading No Plot, No Problem which helps you navigate your way through writing a novel in 30 days. I also looked up some story starters online. A lot of goofy stuff came up, but one thing caught my eye. It was something about a wedding planner. The story starter was something crazy, but I liked the wedding idea. I wasn't sure where I was going with it, but I went to sleep feeling great about having an idea to start with.
Today I thought about it some more. I decided on a title and genre, which is very exciting to me. Last year's novel attempt didn't even have a title or genre. It was just out there. I started doing some research on weddings and making a few notes. I got married over 10 years ago, things are different now,and I want to write a current story. With that said though, I will be pulling from my own experiences. A lot of crazy stuff happens when you plan a wedding, so I've got some good material to start with. I may also survey some friends who are planning weddings or recently got married. Just to get current information. I only have a few days to do this. NaNoWriMo starts on Tuesday!
I know the suspense is killing you. Here are the title and genre. I will post the premise in a couple of days when the story is more clear to me.
Title: My Mother's Wedding
Genre: Chick Lit

Just Me and You
Just Me and You
me and you
you and me
together
you look into my eyes
touching my soul
your kisses are electric
sparking new feelings inside
me and you
you and me
together
you pull me close
feeling my breath on your skin
your touch reaches my mind
making everything clear
me and you
you and me
together
forever
