untitled

(originally written February 27, 2006--have no idea why that one line is bold and i couldn't get it to unbold)

I’ve been down this road before
Relationships are fragile by nature
They gain strength over time

Building up a thick wall, hard to break

In the beginning it is like glass
Easily shattered by the smallest stones
Once it cracks it’s only a matter of time
A time where everything falls apart
As we embark on this journey
Whose destination is unknown
Let’s protect ourselves from the small stones
Communication, honesty, and trust
Can block out pieces of rock
To shield us from flying gravel
We need to be less skeptical
I’ve been down this road before
Instead of tearing down what could’ve been
I’m dedicated to building something strong

bits and pieces of a love poem

(this was orignially written in 2006--posting so you don't think everything i write is depressing)

Bits and pieces of a love poem in progress—some of this stuff is good!

Pouring rain
Flickering candlelight
I lay here writing about you
The man who just a few hours ago poured out his heart

Honest eyes
Sincere words
I lay here wrapped in your love
Expressed both in words and the act of love making
-------------------------------------------------

Rain pounds the roof on this cold winter night
In the bedroom he sleeps; worn out from a long day
In the living room she sits; reading a book
Physical space between them, but joined at the heart
---------------------------------------------------------

They made love that night, before the rain
Under an umbrella of sweet words
She is his everything
He completes her
These feelings and words drive their passion
Together they fit—to form one
-------------------------------------------------------------

Once more he lifted my chin, gently this time, with one finger
His blue eyes looked into mine and out of his mouth poured his heart.
The man I’d fallen in love with a short time ago had returned.

Sunshine

this poem was originally written march 5, 2006

Sunshine

Your world is darkened...

rejected

hurt

angry

depressed

bitter

lonely

A ray of sunshine squeezes into your dark world...

skeptical but open-minded

scared but longing

doubtful but happy

cautious but hopeful.

A self imposed cloud blocks out your ray of sunshine...

distrust

confusion

isolation

hurtful

sad

This phenomenon poses a question:
Which is worse, being hurt or never having a chance to feel the sunshine?
